How to write a brilliant book

A few months ago my friends The Paper Rats asked me to contribute some writing tips for their video, Writing Tips for Real Writers. Now, for the first time, you can watch the short video I made for them in its entirety (below). If you follow the advice in it, it will help you write a brilliant book.

If you'd like to hear more of my British accent, please come along to Polari at the Royal Festival Hall, 7.45pm Monday 10th December for a special Christmas event hosted by Paul Burston and featuring music and readings from Bethan Roberts, Diriye Osman, Celine Hispiche, Marcus Reeves and me.

If you'd like to watch the Paper Rats video, with writing tips from several authors including R J Keller and Kristen Tsetsi, please visit their site, Inside the Writers' Studio.

Do you want to be one of the first to know when my new books are published?
Sign up for book news here. (I send you two or three emails a year at most.)

So that's the secret! Thank you ever so much. Can Americans from the Mid-West win the Mann-Booker prize? If so, see you there.
