Beautiful Books Emporium

One day I would like to open a knitting shop and detective agency. I will also sell death rays and bus rebukes - and perhaps old-fashioned sweets by the quarter pound. It will be called something like Smith's Emporium of Knitting, Curses, Mystery-Solving, Rebukes, Death Rays and Licorice Cuttings. More details here.

Until then, I have decided to open a bookshop. It's called Helen Smith's Beautiful Books Emporium and you can buy signed paperback copies of my books.

Alison Wonderland is a quirky literary comedy about a woman called Alison who joins an all-female detective agency in Brixton.

Being Light is about a man who flies away on a freak gust of wind while installing a bouncy castle in Brockwell Park, London. When he doesn't come home, his wife hires a private detective to find him. .

The Miracle Inspector is a dystopian novel set in London in the near future. England has been partitioned and a young married couple, Lucas and Angela, decide to escape to Cornwall - with disastrous consequences.

My Beautiful Books Emporium has been set up on Makerhood, a site where you can buy beautifully hand-crafted goods by local artists from Brixton, Clapham, Herne Hill, Camberwell or Stockwell. If you live in the area and the goods are too big to post, you can collect them from a meeting point like, for example, Brixton Library or Battersea Arts Centre. It's a clever idea, isn't it? Check out some of the goods available. They make brilliant gifts.

If you don't need signed copies of my books, you can buy unsigned copies online everywhere from Amazon to WH Smiths. The Book Depository will deliver post free to almost anywhere in the world. If you live locally, you can also find copies in Clapham Books, Herne Hill Books and The Bookseller Crow. The Miracle Inspector is also in WH Smith bookshops at train stations and airports. They're all available as ebooks via Amazon, too.
